Happy Halloween

This is my real life Halloween story, it happened today, and I ran (rant) it past Unk who thought it was strange too...
More I think about it, its very very weird, though I might have some rational theories at the end.

Saturday, October 21st: Between 5:30-7:00PM Its Dark and about to rain briefly.

Chuck is out front in his house putting up Halloween Decorations. Outside my front door I have a very small glass enclosed little porch thing. I should provide a picture, but it's really just a second glass door, with some cheap red outside carpeting. Its a perfect place for holiday decorations. You got glass, its right out front, and all your decorations are safely locked inside. Plus, at night I have a light outside, so you can switch that on to display anything.

Its a bit weird to decorate here as the English are not Americans, and they don't know why we bother to put up displays and things. Halloween is still only just beginning to take root in a city that is famous for its ghosts, murder, and macabre, oddly enough.

As I finished hanging my lame attempt at spider webbing, hanging skeletons, witches, and my cloaked demon, I began picking up the tape, scissors and scraps of things left over when one decorates the dark arts.
When I started the sun was setting and some clouds rolled in. As I was done decorating it was finally dark and in a minute or two a small rain shower would begin.

When I had picked up the last of the stuff off the floor, I brought it into the house and I needed to pick up soda and beer from the store up the road. I decided I would go back out and take one good look at the work I had done. As I opened my front door, the small glass enclosure was bathed in light, outside was black so I couldn't immediately see that someone was standing right outside my door.
However, I remember this very weird feeling of sort of knowing someone was there, but on the other hand quickly forgetting and not knowing. Either way, I saw someone there suddenly, and that person was a short, grey haired, very very old lady. And it was soo funny, I jumped back scared out of my fucking pants.
Well, here is this man in a Bauhaus shirt, hanging demons, skulls and spiders, scaring his wife all month with fake spiders, and I jump back scared shit from a little old lady. I felt I was in a comic strip. Then I felt really bad cause this woman obviously saw me jump and yah know her being old had something to do with it honestly.
Well I slid open the glass front door and apologized. She let out a laugh, it was unspoken about the decorations, how silly it was for me to be scared by her, meanwhile I got a demon of the night hanging above my head.
She asked if I had seen a cat roaming around. Now its dark and about to rain, what a weird question. She was dressed well, blue sort of rain coat, and yet it was weird. She seemed to have all the time in the day. I am very non social, but I said well I have not seen any cat. Now I come home late most nights, me and Tina are about to get two cats, I would then know of any cats out on the street, the neighborhood cats, I would think I would have seen them. The only cat I know is two or three doors down and they have a white and brown cat, that I have seen in my garden, as well as on the front road many a time, mainly at night.
Which is why I sort of continued to talk to this old woman, because I thought at first she was looking for a cat that got away from her. I said "well can you tell me what the cat looks like."
This is the haunting part, she couldn't describe the fucking cat!
Now here is this very old lady, knocking on a strangers door, about some cat that she can not describe. She stuttered a bit and put out her hands to say well its about this big (not necessary as cats are all about the same relative size, only Tina's fathers cat Felix is the biggest most dog like cat I ever seen, other wise your general street cat is cat sized). She then said "well its grey..."But did not seem confident about that. Grey? I seen tabby cats, black cats, mixed colors but grey?
Weird.
Now I felt uneasy and I thought ok she's senile, should I be calling the cops? What if she wandered out? She composed herself though and got back on track by sort of doing a typical old lady story, by saying "oh yah know cat is about so big...erm....Grey....And well yah know I feed this cat and its just something I do, keeps me happy and just a little thing...Well its ok if you have not seen it...I have not in a while oh well..."
With that she thanked me and said "I was a nice young man" and walked off. I sort of went in to tell Tina who I had been talking too, but I failed to watch her walk off to see if she was knocking on other doors or where she lived.

So now the theories:
Ghost? I doubt it, though its Halloween so this is my top choice.
Witch? She kind of foreshadowed that I was going to own two cats in a very Melville way, hmmm...
General Old Lady: Possibly the most rational theory. She was dressed well, was groomed, spoke fine English and seemed ok. I think she may actually live across the street, I know I saw a woman helping an old lady walk in one weekend, maybe that was her. Maybe she just saw the light on and thought she would ask... what the hell. The lingering proble is that I have never seen this stray?
The most sad theory is that maybe she is a bit senile and wandering and I can only hope she doesn't knock on the wrong door or end up lost. I don't think this was the case though cause she was dressed ok. But just a funny scary story at the same....
Too many coincidences:
1. Halloween decoration
2. Arrived JUST as I stepped out to over look them
3. Never seen this stray cat
4. Had a very very hard time describing the cat, though it should be easy to say the color, why finally say Grey?
5. What if I did see the stray cat, I guess she was just worried it left or got run over, but still why was she walking around in the dark before a rain storm? Maybe she thought I was out front most of the day and I was the only person around in the neighborhood just asking if I saw it...
Would like to hear what people think?

I would like to add, I hope that cat does come back and lets her feed it, at least one last time....
